Terms of Service

The Service is provided by Vinyar, a sole trader based in Finland ("Vinyar", "we", "us"). You can reach us at support@vinyar.app.

Vinyar is a personal application for keeping a private library of the books you read, along with your notes, quotes, reflections, ratings, and reading progress. We may update, improve, or change features over time.

To use the Service you must create an account with a valid email address and a password (minimum 8 characters). You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date.

Free trial. We offer a 14-day free trial. No payment details are required to start the trial. At the end of the trial, your access will pause unless you choose a paid plan.

Plans. We offer a monthly plan and an annual plan. Current prices are shown on our Pricing page and at checkout.

Payment and Merchant of Record. Payments are processed by Paddle, which acts as the Merchant of Record and the legal seller of your subscription. When you purchase a subscription, your contract for payment is with Paddle, and Paddle's Buyer Terms also apply. Paddle collects and remits any applicable VAT or sales tax. We do not store your card details.

Renewal. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) at the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date.

Vinyar begins with a 14-day free trial, so you can explore fully before any payment is taken. You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you retain access until then.

If you are charged and change your mind, you may request a refund within 14 days of that payment by contacting us at support@vinyar.app. Your purchase is processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record, and refunds are issued through Paddle.

You retain all ownership of the content you create in Vinyar — your library, notes, quotes, reflections, and reviews ("Your Content"). You grant us only the limited licence necessary to store, display, and operate the Service for you. We do not claim ownership of Your Content, and we do not publish or share it. You are responsible for ensuring that any content you store does not infringe the rights of others or break the law.

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or other users' data; interfere with or disrupt the Service; reverse-engineer or copy the Service except as permitted by law; or upload content that is illegal or infringes others' rights. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

The Service itself — including its design, software, branding, and the "Vinyar" name — is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our branding or software beyond using the Service as intended. Book metadata and cover images are provided by third parties (such as Google Books) and remain the property of their respective owners.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings → Account, which permanently removes your data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if required by law. On termination, your right to use the Service ends.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". While we work hard to keep it reliable and beautiful, we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data loss will never occur. You are encouraged to keep your own copies of content that is important to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including your statutory rights as a consumer. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, notify you by email or within the Service. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you also benefit from the mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence. Disputes will be subject to the competent courts of Finland, subject to any mandatory consumer protections.
